You’ve purchased the first-ever universal, plug-and-play speaker dock for Android-based smart phones. Thanks to its innovative design, it will cradle and charge most Android™ phones while delivering premium sound. Its custom app, meanwhile, gives you the option to enjoy convenient access to basic media player functions through the remote control and buttons on the dock.

Product Overview

System Requirements:

  1. Android™ smart phone
  2. 3.5mm headset jack
  3. Micro USB jack
  4. Android™ operating system version 2.2 or greater (Optional, only needed to utilize remote control and dock button functions by using the SONR™ dock control app)

Getting Started Directions using the dock:

plug into wall 1. Connect the dock to a power outlet with the provided power plug.
turn power on 2. Power ON the unit using the power button on the dock. A blue light will indicate the dock is ready for use.
music app 3. Open the music player of your choice and start playback on your phone.
pull out cables 4. Gently pull out the cables from the dock cradle. (Max cable length: 8”)
connect cables 5. Connect the 3.5mm plug to the headset jack on your phone. Playback should automatically switch from your phone speakers to the dock speakers. Connect the micro USB plug to the micro USB jack on your phone. NOTE: The micro USB connection will enable the speaker dock to charge your phone, the 3.5mm connection will enable the speaker dock to play music.

push in cables 8. If desired, you can push any extra cable length back into the dock. NOTE: For easier cable management access, you may need to uncradle the phone.
Directions for installing and using the SONR™ Labs Dock Control app
android market 1. Download the SONR™ Labs Dock Control app.
2. Using your Android’s touch screen, open the SONR™ app and follow the on-screen instructions.

About the SONR™ Labs Dock Control App

  • What is the SONR™ Labs Dock Control app? Discover more features with the SONR™ Labs Dock Control app for Android. While you can control music playback using your phone screen, this free app gives you an additional and convenient control of your music using the remote or dock-mounted buttons. You can play and pause songs, adjust volume, skip tracks, mute and much more from across the room using a small handheld remote or using the buttons on the dock.


  • Is SONR difficult to install and set up? No. Set up is easy. Get started by finding the SONRDockControlApp in the android market. Once installed, launch it to personalize your music sources and control your music using the remote. You can also use the dock buttons to control music playback.


  • Do I need SONR App to use the dock?  No. Your Android dock works immediately out of the box, with no software or configuration. Without the app installed on your phone, you control your media players using the touchscreen of your Android phone. Installing the SONR™ app enables convenient remote or dock button control of media player functions such as Play/Pause, Skip, and Mute. Without the app, you need to control these functions using your phone.


  • How do I install SONR app? The SONR App is available as a free download on the Android Market. This link will take you directly there or you can search the App Market under “SONR Dock Control.” 

 

TROUBLESHOOTING

NOTE: For proper operation of the SONR™ Labs Dock Control app, remote control and dock-mounted controls, your phone must be running Android operating system version 2.2 or greater and your media player must comply with Android standards.

 

Speaker Dock for Android Issues and Possible Solutions

  • Dock does not power “ON”
  • Check that the power cord is connected firmly to the dock and the wall outlet. >   Try a different wall outlet.
  • If using the remote control, the battery in the remote could be exhausted. Try using the power button on the dock itself.


  • No audio from speaker
  • Check that the dock is powered on and a media player app is playing.
  • Disconnect the audio cable from your phone’s headphone jack to ensure sound is coming from your phone speakers.
  • Adjust the remote control or the app itself via the touchscreen. Increase the volume and make sure that the phone audio is not on “mute” by pressing the mute button a few times.


  • Phone is not charging
  • Reconnect the charging (mini-USB) cable from the dock to your phone.
  • Check that the power supply cable is firmly connected to the dock and the wall outlet.


SONR™ Labs Dock Control app Issues and Possible Solutions

  • Remote control does not work or works intermittently
  • Make sure to remove the plastic sticker included with all new remotes.
  • Remove the Android device from the dock, wait 5 seconds, then plug it back in. NOTE: You may need to repeat this step a few times.
  • Your Android device software may need to be updated, refer to your phones manual.
  • Make sure you’ve successfully installed the SONR App for Android from the Android market. The SONR icon should be on the screen listing all apps installed on your phone.
  • Try the remote from a different location. If it works there, strong lighting or other conditions may be causing the problem.
  • Make sure nothing blocks the path from the remote to your Android Dock for Android. The remote uses an infrared (IR) signal, which requires an unobstructed line of sight between the remote and the dock. Aim your remote at the IR receiver located right near the Blue LED indicating your unit is powered ON.
  • Replace the remote control battery. The battery type is listed on the battery compartment of the remote.
  • Some Android phones may be incompatible with the SONR Dock Control software. Visit digitalinnovations.com/supportsandroid to see if your phone is compatible.


  • No Audio is Heard
  • Increase the volume setting for the system.
  • Increase the volume settings using the volume control button of your phone.
  • Make sure the dock is plugged in, your Android phone is turned on, and a music track is selected and playing.
  • Remove your Android device from the dock, wait 5 seconds, then plug it back in. You may need to do this a few times.
  • Unplug the dock to completely shut off any power to it. Shut down your Android. Then restart the Android device and plug the system again.


  • SONR Crashes
  • Uninstall the SONR Dock Control app by going to the “Setup” menu on the home page of your Android phone. Select “Manage Applications” and delete the SONR Labs app. Then reinstall the latest version by following the instructions above.

Speaker Dock for Android Compatibility Overview

To play music, you need:
• A 3.5mm headset jack.

NOTE: Some Sony Ericsson phones are not compatible with the dock because they deviate from the 3.5mm TRRS headset connector standard used on most Android phones. *NOTE: Port locations will vary for each phone model
To charge your phone, you need:
A microUSB connector.
*
NOTE: If your phone does not have a microUSB connection (e.g. iPhone) you cannot charge your phone, but you can still play music.
To use the remote control or dock buttons, you need:
Android 2.2 or above.

The SONR Labs™ app installed on your Android phone.
NOTE: Android 2.2 and the SONR App are required only if you plan on using the remote and button on the docks. Playback can always be controlled using the phone (or phone screen for touchscreen phones), even on an older Android OS or if SONR is not installed on your phone.NOTE: The Nexus One is not compatible with SONR App. Nexus One owners can still charge and play music through the Speaker Dock for Android. The user must, however, control media player functions like “Play/Pause,” “Skip/Back,” etc. using the phone’s touch screen.
