SkipDr Premier Disc Repair System

Simply put, this is an amazing piece of machinery. I order a lot of used house/trance CDs from overseas, which can be quite expensive. They don't always arrive in the best shape unfortunately, especially older CDs. The SkipDR has managed to save every single CD I've used it on, no matter what condition it arrived in. It's truly saved me a ton of aggrevation.

I highly reccomend the automated version instead of the manual one, which I ordered first. The automated version is about 20x easier and faster to use, which you'll appreciate if you have a bunch of CDs to clean.

While going through our DVDs recently, I discovered a couple damaged DVDs that wouldn’t read properly on a computer. Since the Skip Dr. wasn’t all that expensive and looked to be well reviewed, I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did - I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone else with scratched DVDs.
This unit is simple to operate. You just spray the DVD with the “magic fluid” (which is mostly water) and insert the disc into the slot. The Skip Dr. runs it through automatically, and ejects it when it’s done. While the unit can be powered by batteries, it does come with an AC adapter. It works well using the adapter - I can’t speak to how well it runs on batteries.
So far I’ve repaired two discs. The first DVD was scratched several times one one portion of the disc only - the Skip Dr. fixed this problem with one pass. The other disc was purchased used by my daughter, and was significantly scratched (not gouged) over most of the surface. Repairing this disc took two runs through the Skip Dr., but now the disc plays flawlessly.

I have used the hand cranked version of product and its sister product the Skip Doctor to repair a few dozen CDs and DVDs. They have worked well in most cases. I use Exact Audio Copy to make MP3s. I have had disc show up with errors in EAC and then rip perfectly after a run through the Doctor.
The Doctors use a wet sanding technique to remove a layer of plastic over the whole surface of a disk to get remove scratches. It is not a spot polisher. The Doctors will not fix very deep scratches, but they will do a good job on light scratches, even if there are hundreds of them. Some times, even if a run through the Doctor does not completely remove a visible scratch, it will help enough to fix an error. You will notice that the disk will be covered with hundreds of very light radial sanding marks. These will buff out some with the included felt pad, but not completely. I have not had these cause a disk to play any worse than it was before.

I FIRST USED IT ON THE OLDEST THE MOST SCRATCHED DVD I COULD FIND IT WAS A OLD SUPERMAN MOVIE I HAD FOR YEARS IT WOULD NOT PLAY I CLEANED IT WITH THE SKIP DR PREMIER THE FIRST TIME AND IT PLAYED LIKE A NEW DVD!!!

I just bought this today and I must say this is amazing and worth every penny. I took the most scratched up dvd I could find. I followed the instructions carefully and with in 1 minute (plus drying off with cloth) every scratch was gone and the DVD became new again and I was able to watch the movie.

This product is simple to use and you WILL get your monies worth.
